The Holly Monarch
Every year at Yule Ball the Holly Monarch is decided by a contest of skill in archery, A&S, fencing, or armoured combat - the discipline rotates each year. Whoever triumphs wins the leather sash for the year, and before returning it must add their own arms to join those of their predecessors upon it. The Holly Monarch also has the duty of handing out the gifts during the Feast.
2024 Holly Monarch Competition
The Holly Monarch this year will be decided by a Rapier Tournament – test your skill to become the Holly Monarch!
Tournament format and rules:
The Holly Monarch shall this year be decided by a bearpit of the heavy rapier class, which will be run for (hopefully) 45 minutes. The system of rotating marshals shall be applied. Wounds will be retained by the defender of the pit.
There will be a handicap format which will proceed as follows:

Free Scholar and/or Fox, -1

Provost and/or Silver Guard, -2
-
Praefect/Wing, -3
-
MoD, -4
The winner will be the fencer with the longest streak in the pit. Ties for first place will be awarded to the person with the least handicap, or (in the case of both individuals possessing equal hinderance) a duel to first blood.
